So I mentioned here that I was attending the Cuppa4Cansa event held by Madame Macaroon herself, Vee. I honestly haven’t had a chance to write a post about the event but let me tell you it was a great time, filled with fun friends, delish food and even better it was for a great cause.
All in all the event managed to Raise over R16000 for Cansa, this is an incredible amount and it was interesting to hear from Linda of the Cancer Association where this funding would be going. Linda mentioned that they have a mobile clinic that goes into underprivileged areas to test ladies (and gentlemen) for cancer of all types but specifically for breast cancer. Did you know that men can also get breast cancer and that the use of steroids can increase their chances??
Linda gave a very informative talk about breast cancer, and some of the signs. She also demonstrated how to do a self test which was incredibly interesting as breast cancer can affect the areas around your breast as well – so your entire chest area and underneath your arm. Should you have any questions or if you would like to volunteer to assist at one of the Canca open days I really do encourage you to look on the Cansa Website here.
A huge thank you to all the sponsors for making the day an enjoyable memorable one. And a huge thank you to Vee! Give her blog some love here. If you think that you could host a Cuppa4Cansa event then be sure to pop over to their website here.
The Table set with our goodie bags waiting patiently,
The superbly yummy savories. I could be found seated behind this table trying not to eat everything. 🙂
